Bassey and Iwobi score as Fulham defeat Manchester United

Nigerian players, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey scored the goals to seal a 1-2 victory for Fulham FC against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Super Eagles pair, fresh from their silver medal success at AFCON 2023, delivered standout performances to secure all three points for Fulham in a memorable Premier League clash on Saturday, February 24.

Manager Marco Silva’s decision to reinstate Iwobi and Bassey into the starting lineup proved instrumental as they made their mark on the pitch with defender Calvin Bassey scoring his first Premier League goal to give the visitor the lead after 75th minute.

United levelled scores through Harry Maguire but Fulham FC had the last laugh with Alex Iwobi’s clinical finish in the dying moments sealing the victory, making him the first Fulham player to score a winning goal at Old Trafford since 2003.

The historic win marks Fulham’s first victory at Old Trafford under Marco Silva’s leadership and he will have his Nigerian stars to thank for a very special victory.
