Premier League players arrested on suspicion of rape and assault
According to reports from the UK Sun, two Premier League players, both aged 19 and representing the same club, were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of rape and assault.
The incident saw one of the players being briefly interviewed by police at their club’s stadium on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape.
Following this questioning, the player was formally arrested after leaving the stadium. He spent the night in police custody before being further questioned by detectives under caution.
Subsequently, his teammate was also arrested and questioned the following day specifically on suspicion of rape.
A police spokesperson confirmed the arrests, stating, “Officers have arrested two men following a report of a rape. A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape. A second 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape.”
Both players have been released on police bail as investigations into the incident continue.
