Victor Boniface nominated for Bundeliga award
Despite missing a significant part of the season with injury, Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has been nominated for the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season
The 23-year-old Nigerian has had a remarkable season with Bayer Leverkusen, contributing significantly with twenty goals and ten assists in 32 appearances.
Boniface’s stellar performances have played a crucial role in Bayer Leverkusen’s success, as they clinched their first-ever Bundesliga title and are currently on track to win the Europa League trophy. Additionally, they are favorites to win the German Cup finals against Kaiserslautern.
Although Boniface suffered an injury last year, hindering his goal involvements, he still managed to impress. Before his injury, he received the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award four times consecutively.
The Bundesliga recently announced the nominees for the Rookie award, with Boniface making the cut alongside other talented players. His competitors include RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, who has seven goals and eleven assists in 31 games, Borussia Dortmund loanee Ian Maatsen from Chelsea, and Maximilian Beier, who has scored 15 goals and provided two assists in 32 Bundesliga games.
