Confluence Queens eye NWFL glory after ‘Unity shot’

Confluence Queens have adopted a special team-bonding approach in their quest for a first-ever Nigeria Women’s Football League title at the NWFL playoff.

As the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title and Super Six playoffs draw near, Confluence Queens from Lokoja look prepared fo a tough fight.

After finishing second in Group A, they are set to face formidable opponents such as Heartland Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, and Bayelsa Queens.

Following a recent engagement, Team manager Mrs. Tosin Ojo Olorunleke expressed the team’s readiness, stressing their recent photoshoot was to showcase their strong unity and bond. She believes this unity has been key to their success so far and aims to carry this positive spirit into the playoffs.

“We decided to take the photoshoot to showcase our strong bond and unity ahead of the playoffs,” Olorunleke said. “It has been our secret to what we’ve achieved so far, and when the idea came about, everyone embraced it, and we are happy it came out good.”

Olorunleke acknowledges the support from the management and the State government, expressing the team’s desire to give back by winning the Super Six. Confluence Queens will depart Lokoja for Yenagoa on Thursday, gearing up for the opening day of the playoffs on Saturday.

Their best-ever finish in the league was second place in the 2018 playoffs, where they narrowly lost 1-0 in the final to Rivers Angels. This time, they’re determined to go all the way and clinch the coveted NWFL Premiership title.
