Abia frustrate Plateau as Adamson’s brace helps Delta inflict heavy loss on FCT

Abia State men showed determination and grit in their first game at the 2018 National Sports Festival to deny much fancied Plateau State a win on Saturday.

The game between the two sides showed that sometimes; skill and star players don’t necessarily win you games as the resolute Abia State frustrated Plateau State.

There were moments in the game when Abia State looked like breaking the deadlock, other times Plateau State looked sure of getting a goal but in the end it remained goalless.

In the second game of the day Delta State men were ruler taller for their opponents from FCT.

Adamson Edward scored two goals, Ikediashi Philip and Kitchme Dimlong completed the 4-0 rout of FCT in front of their supporters.

With the first penalty corner of the day, Delta State drew the first blood from a well worked out penalty corner that Ikediashi Philip converted.

It was Bernard Wilson that was fouled for the penalty corner, he was taken out and didn’t return into the game. The extent of his injury is unknown as at the time of this report.

Adamson Edward scored in the 8th minute of the game to increase Delta’s tally to 2. He completed his brace with a beautiful strike in the 26th minute.

Veteran Kitchme Dimlong scored with his trademark finish to increase Delta’s tally to 4.

He stopped a ball on top ‘d’ and fired a powerful shot while the ball was in to the delight of the singing Delta State fans and bench.

Four games will be played tomorrow. We will start with two games from the women group and then two from the men’s group.
