Abia Warriors captain names team target for Rivers United clash

Captain of Abia Warriors FC, Augustine Njoku has named the team’s target for the rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash against Rivers United FC.

Abia Warriors have had a not-too-consistent season and so are in mid-table with the relegation zone not too far away.

The Abia State government-funded side will now look to end the season on a high and that starts with the next game in front of their passionate supporters.

Team Captain Augustine Njoku said the Warriors are determined to secure a win in their upcoming match against Rivers United. The game, which was rescheduled, will take place at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Njoku stressed the importance of winning for the team’s supporters. He stated in a pre-match interview that they are committed to delivering nothing less than victory.

“We will give the fans nothing short of victory against Rivers United today,” Njoku stated in a pre-match interview.

A win in this match would put Abia Warriors five points clear of the relegation zone. Currently, they hold the 14th position on the table with 41 points.

The team is geared up to give their all on the field and secure a crucial victory against Rivers United.
