Abia Warriors in must-win Lobi tie, Rivers United look to bounce back against Adamawa United: NPFL Matchday 7 Preview

Matchday 7 to hold between Friday 29th and Sunday 31st of January

On Friday, the first fixture of Matchday 7 is between Plateau United and top of the table Nasarawa United at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos. Nasarawa are yet to suffer a defeat this season in the NPFL.

On Saturday, Akwa United host Kano Pillars at the Nest of Champions in Uyo. The Promise Keepers will be without coach Kennedy Boboye as he serves a one game touchline ban. Pillars will look to build on their big midweek victory over Rivers United.

On Sunday, 8 matches will go down in the NPFL. Lobi Stars host Abia Warriors in what may be Imama Amapakabo’s last game as Warriors manager. His Warriors must win to save his job as the game is the third of a three game ultimatum given to him by the club’s management.

Warri Wolves pay a visit to Uyo, where they will be facing Dakkada FC. Both teams have had it rough in recent weeks, losing their last two games in the NPFL.

MFM welcome Kwara United to the Soccer Temple in Agege for their encounter. MFM haven’t lost since Matchday 2, and Kwara United have been boosted by the return of Dele Aiyenugba, and find themselves in the top half of the table.

Third-placed Enyimba play host to Katsina United at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba. The People’s Elephant welcome Katsina United’s new gaffer, Baldwin Bazuaye back to the NPFL.

Jigawa Golden Stars play host to Heartland FC. Jigawa Golden Stars will be without their coach after he was banned by the LMC from attending this fixture following a breach of regulations. Heartland look to have turned the corner and have moved away from the relegation zone.

Rangers International FC visit Sunshine Stars in Akure with their entire squad fully fit for the first time this season. Sunshine will be looking for Sadeeq Yusuf to continue his brilliant goalscoring form for them, as his 4 goal haul has put him on top of the scorers’ chart.

Rivers United will look to bounce back from that defeat at Kano Pillars when they welcome Adamawa United to their Port Harcourt base. The second placed team have been one of the standout teams in the league this season.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah will look to ease their relegation troubles when they welcome Wikki Tourists to Nnewi. Wikki won their last game, and Ifeanyi Ubah are winless in 5 games.

Friday’s fixture between Plateau United and Nasarawa United will be aired on NTA and the NPFL.tv app, as will Sunday’s game between Lobi Stars and Abia Warriors.
