Ademola Lookman acknowledges tough challenge against Angola in AFCON quarter-final

As Nigeria prepares to face Angola in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Ademola Lookman,  recognizes the strength of the opposition and anticipates a challenging encounter.

Angola has demonstrated impressive form in the tournament, winning three out of four games, making them formidable opponents for the Super Eagles of Nigeria who hold a similar record in the competition.

In his assessment of the upcoming match, Lookman emphasized the importance of analyzing Angola’s style of play and preparing accordingly. Recognizing the increasing difficulty as teams advance in the tournament, Lookman stressed the need for a focused and game-by-game approach.

The Atalanta winger, who is participating in his first major tournament with Nigeria, expressed his enjoyment of the atmosphere in Cote d’Ivoire. He acknowledged the incredible support from Nigerian fans and highlighted the resonance of certain games, such as the recent victory over Cameroon where he bagged both goals to sen the Eagles into the last-8.

“Angola are a good team. We’ll analyze them and prepare. The further you go, the tougher it gets so we’ll take it game by game,” Lookman told reporters.

The Atalanta winger, who is playing in his first major tournament with Nigeria said he is enjoying every bit of his time in Cote d’Ivoire.

“I love this atmosphere, it’s incredible. Our fans pushed us to the end because this was Cameroon, and when you wear the Super Eagles shirt, some games resonate more than others.”

As Nigeria aims to progress further in the 2023 AFCON competition, Lookman’s perspective reflects the team’s determination and commitment to navigating the challenges posed by strong opponents like Angola having earlier faced the likes of Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon.

The quarter-final clash promises to be an exciting and closely contested encounter between the Super Eagles and the Black Antelopes.
