Ademola Lookman to feature in Atalanta matchday squad vs Club Brugge
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has confirmed that Ademola Lookman will be in the squad for Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League playoff match against Raphael Onyedika’s Club Brugge at Stadio di Bergamo.
Lookman has missed Atalanta’s last six matches due to a knee injury he picked up in training before their trip to Barcelona.
Doctors initially expected him to be out for a month, but he has recovered sooner and will return after three weeks.
The Nigerian forward trained partially with the team for four days before completing a full session on Monday.
Speaking to reporters, Gasperini said the former Charlton Athletic player has recovered and is ready to be part of the squad.
Unless there is a late change, Lookman will start on the bench against the Belgian champions.
“Lookman and Kolašinac have recovered. Kolašinac will likely start, while Lookman could come on in the second half,” Gasperini said.
“However, we might lose Hien, as he felt some muscle fatigue during training.”
Before his injury, Lookman was in great form for Atalanta, scoring 14 goals and providing 7 assists, despite transfer rumours in the summer.
