Ademola Lookman Visits President Tinubu with CAF Award

Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at his home in Lagos on Friday. During the visit, Lookman proudly showed the President his 2024 CAF Footballer of the Year award.

The 27-year-old winger, who plays for Atalanta in Italy, was named Africa’s best footballer in December 2024. He became the second Nigerian in a row to win the award, following Victor Osimhen’s win in 2023.

Lookman’s visit comes after a fantastic 2024/25 season. He scored 20 goals in all competitions and helped Atalanta finish third in the Italian Serie A.

One of his biggest achievements came in the 2023/24 season, when he scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists. He also scored a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, helping Atalanta win their first-ever European trophy.

On the international stage, Lookman played a key role in Nigeria’s journey to the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire. He scored three important goals and was named in the tournament’s Best XI alongside Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong. Nigeria finished the tournament with a silver medal.

Lookman’s visit shows the growing recognition of Nigerian athletes around the world and the government’s support for their success in sports.
