AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles to face Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Sao Tome and Principe in the last qualifying match for the 2023 AFCON at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

This is according to latest information released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) which listed the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium as the only Nigerian venue which currently meets set standard.

The Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja has hosted the Super Eagles matches in recent years but has not been passed fit by CAF.

Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro will be happy to have his boys play at the Stadium in Uyo.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are on verge of qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be hosted by Ivory Coast.

A win in the away game vs Sierra Leone will seal Nigeria’s place at the 2023 Cup of Nations with the game vs Sao Tome in Uyo to spare.

After five rounds of matches, Nigeria occupy top spot in Group A with 9-points. Guinea-Bissau are second with 7-points while third place Sierra Leone has 5-points. Sao Tome and Principe are bottom on the log.
