AFCON U-20: Flying Eagles battle Hippos for a place in FIFA U-20 World Cup

...lock horns with Group B winners for a semifinal spot

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will play against the Uganda Hippos in the quarterfinal at the ongoing Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.

After a narrow 1-0 defeat in their first game against Senegal U-20, the Flying Eagles defeated hosts, Egypt U-20 1-0, and Mozambique U-20 2-0 to finish second in the group and book a place in the quarterfinals.

Uganda U-20 finished top of their group after going unbeaten in three games with a record of one win and two draws. The Uganda Hippos defeated Central Africa Republic 2-1 in their first game, played a 2-2 draw against 10-man Congo U-20, and also played a barren draw against South Sudan.

The match between Nigeria U-20 and Uganda U-20 will be played on March 2, 2023, at 6 pm Nigerian time at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia.

A place in the semifinal and a world cup ticket is up for grabs when the Flying Eagles and the Uganda Hippos battle in Ismailia on Thursday.

The winner of the clash alongside three other semifinalists will book automatic tickets for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia which will be held between Sat, May 20, 2023 – Sun, and Jun 11, 2023.
