Agbaje wins big, Oladosu claims african title at the GOTV Boxing Night 16

Rilwan Oladosu, and Taiwo ‘esepo’ Agbaje were the biggest winners at the GOTV Boxing Night 16 held in Lagos on Sunday.

While Rilwan Oladosu claimed the West African Boxing Union Lightweight title after beating his Ghanaian opponent Benjamin Lamptey by unanimous decision, Taiwo Agbaje won the cash price and trophy as the best fighter of the night.

There were 8 undercard fights before he main event fight between Nigeria’s Rilwan Oladosu and Ghana’s Benjamin Lamptey for the vacant West African Boxing Union Lightweight title.

The first match of the day saw Waheed ‘Showmax’ Shogbamu beating Ganiyu Azeez ‘Who Say So’ Tijani by technical knockout in the National Light Welterweight Challenge.

In the second fight of the day, Adeyemi ‘Spirit’ Adekanla gave a spirited fight to beat Ganiyu Kolawole by split decision in the National Light Welterweight Challenge bout.

Aminu ‘Lucky Boy’ Akintayo beat Mutiu ‘Machine’ Fatai; 40-37, 39-37, 40-45 by Split deiciosn to win the National Super Flyweight challenge bout.

In the fourth fight of the night, Opeyemi ‘Sense’ Adeyemi beat senses into Sheriff ‘Oshe’ Ogunbanjo to win the National Super Bantamweight Challenge bout.

He won by unanimous decision after the three judges gave him 39-37,40-37,39-37 scores.

The fifth fight saw Taiwo ‘Esepo’ Agbaje blew away Tope ‘TP Rock’ Musa to win the National lightweight challenge fight by unaimous decision to end TP Rock’s unbeaten run.

Incidentally for his many punches as his name depicts, Taiwo ‘Esepo’ Agbaje walked away with N1.5m and the Mojisola Ogunsanya trophy as he was voted as the best fighter of the night.

Waidi ‘Skoro’ Usman was too good for Chibuzor ‘T Boy’ Obi as he knocked him out in the National Featherweight challenge.

The 7th fight of the night was a title fight between two familiar foes. Adewale ‘Masevex’ Masebinu beat Kabiru Towolawi by technical knockout to become the new National Light Heavyweight champions.

Kabiru Towolawi who looked like a beaten man before the fight lost his belt to Masebinu on the night.

The 8th fight saw Oto Josephe beating Emmanuel Mensah by Technical Knockout in the international light weight challenge.

During the main event and the final fight of the GOTV Boxing Night 16, Nigeria’s Rilwan Oladosu beat Ghana’s Benjamin Lamptey 99-92, 99-90, 100-91 by unanimous decision to claim the vacant West African Boxing Union Lightweight title.
