Ahmed Musa reacts to Super Eagles AFCON group

Ahmed Musa has said he is happy with the AFCON draw that pits the Super Eagles against Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi in the first round.

Group B will be based in the port city of Alexandria.

“I am very happy with the draw, we’re in a good group,” said the Eagles stand-in captain.

“But we should note that we will be up against new comers like Madagascar and Burundi, so it won’t be that easy after all.

“We have a young team and this AFCON will be the first for many of the boys, but with hard work we will qualify past this group.

“We only hope all the boys will be fit after the season at their clubs.”

Eagles coach Gernot Rohr also maintained he will not be carried away by the low-rated teams in the group.

“It won’t be easy,” he said.

“Guinea are a young, good team like us, Madagascar were the first team to qualify for the AFCON, while Burundi eliminated Gabon, who had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and they have the second leading scorer from the qualifiers.

“We’re confident, but it won’t be so easy.”
