Ahmed Musa Shines as Kano Pillars Beat Finidi George’s Rivers United

Ahmed Musa was the star of the show as Kano Pillars defeated Rivers United 2-0 in a crucial Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Week 35 match at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The result was a major blow for former Super Eagles coach Finidi George, whose Rivers United side were still chasing the NPFL title. They needed at least a draw to stay in the race with league leaders Remo Stars, but the defeat now leaves them seven points behind, with only three games left.

After a goalless first half, Nigeria international and 2013 AFCON winner Ahmed Musa opened the scoring in the 63rd minute, finishing off a neat pass from Zulkifilu Muhammad. Veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali later doubled the lead from the penalty spot, scoring his 12th goal of the season.

Musa’s goal was his eighth of the campaign, showing he still has the quality and experience to make a difference. His performance was a reminder of why he remains one of Nigeria’s most respected footballers.

Finidi George, who won the NPFL with Enyimba last season, now faces a tough task to inspire Rivers United in their final three matches. While they are not yet out of the title race, this defeat has made their challenge much harder.

Ahmed Musa’s influence on and off the pitch continues to be vital for Kano Pillars, and his latest goal could play a big part in shaping the outcome of this season’s title race.
