Why Rivers United lost to Enyimba FC – Finidi George
Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, has said his team failed to take their chances in their narrow 1-0 loss to Enyimba FC on Saturday.
The Pride of Rivers were beaten by Enyimba in Aba, with Imot Obot scoring the only goal of the match from a stunning free-kick in the first half.
Despite the defeat, Finidi praised his players for their overall performance.
“Before they scored from the free-kick, we had a one-on-one chance that we didn’t take, which could have changed the game,” Finidi said in a post-match interview.
“After that moment, they scored the free-kick, which is debatable because we also had one that wasn’t given to us.
“We pushed hard in the second half, making some changes. Overall, I’m quite pleased with the performance, even though we lost. It’s been a while since we played like this, and I must commend the players for their effort.”
