Akor Adams nets third Ligue 1 goal in win over Olympique Lyonnais

Nigerian striker continues fine goalscoring form

Nigerian hitman Akor Adams was on target for the second match in succession for Montpellier as they cruised to a 4-1 win over 10-man Olympique Lyonnais in their second league match.

Adams announced himself to Montpellier fans with a brace in his debut and their league opener against Le Havre last weekend, and was handed a start for the second consecutive match.

Montpellier opened the scoring after only 20 minutes through Arnaud Nordin before Adams found the net ten minutes later, only to be denied by the VAR.

Mousa Al-Taamari doubled Montpellier’s lead in the 39th minute before completing his brace in the 66th minute to put the away side three goals up.

Olympique Lyonnais pulled one back in the 69th minute through star striker Alexandre Lacazette, before the Frenchman was shown a straight red card in the 80th minute.

With one minute left on the clock, the visitors went on a counter, with Leo Leroy playing a perfectly-timed pass to send Adams through on goal. The 23-year-old calmly rounded the onrushing goalkeeper before firing home from a tight angle to score his third of the season.
