Akor Adams Scores Twice as Sevilla End Losing Run at Elche

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams made a strong return from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scoring twice after coming off the bench as Sevilla battled back to draw 2–2 with Elche on Monday night.
The Nigerian forward’s goals brought an end to Sevilla’s four-game losing streak in all competitions.
Elche started the match brightly and went ahead within the first 15 minutes. Martim Neto set up Aleix Febas at the edge of the box, and the midfielder calmly fired past Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
The home side increased their lead shortly after the break when Germán Valera found the net, leaving Sevilla facing another defeat.
However, Adams, who had impressed for Nigeria at AFCON in Morocco, was brought on at the start of the second half and quickly changed the game. He pulled one goal back to score Sevilla’s first competitive goal in five matches.
In stoppage time, the 25-year-old completed his brace from the penalty spot after a handball was spotted in the Elche box, sealing a dramatic 2–2 draw.
Another Nigerian, Chidera Ejuke, was also involved as he came on in the 65th minute. The result ended Sevilla’s poor run, which had lasted since December 17.
Adams featured in all seven of Nigeria’s matches at AFCON 2025, scoring two goals and providing two assists as the Super Eagles finished third. Sevilla coach Matías Almeyda had earlier confirmed that both Adams and Ejuke were available for selection after returning to Spain on Sunday following their international duties.
