Akwa Ibom Crowned National Champions in Flag Football

Team Akwa Ibom has emerged the national male and female champions of the Nigerian Secondary School Flag Football League -NSSFFL Season 4.
The female team defeated their FCT counterpart 12-0 while the male team won Team Ondo 34-6 in the final at the Old parade ground, Abuja.
Eleven states took part in the preliminary rounds, while seven—Oyo, Ondo, Kwara, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and the FCT—qualified for the 2025 finals.
Team Akwa Ibom comprising students from Community Secondary Commercial School -COMSECOM, Ibiaku Itam in Itu local government area team, booked their place in the female final after a commanding 15–2 victory over Ondo State in the semi-finals, showcasing tactical brilliance and superior performance.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the coordinator of the NSSFFL, Oluwatobi Abe said the league continues to deepen its technical, administrative and development structures across participating states. He revealed increased marketing engagement this year, as well as improved officiating standards driven by volunteer training and new game-master programmes.
Abe also announced cash prizes of one million, seven hundred and fifty thousand and three hundred and fifty thousand to the three top-performing teams and student-athletes, reinforcing the league’s commitment to merging sports with academic excellence.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem, congratulated the teams for emerging champions and making the state proud.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youth sports development and commended the students for representing Akwa Ibom with excellence.
