Akwa Ibom State FA celebrates Wisdom Ndon’s Super Eagles B call-up

The Akwa Ibom State Football Association has congratulated Akwa United defender Wisdom Ndon on his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles B squad.

Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen included Ndon in the 35-man team for Nigeria’s 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying tie against Ghana.

Moments after the squad list was released, the Akwa Ibom FA, led by Mr. Samuel Umoh, took to their official Facebook page on Saturday, October 26, 2024, to send a congratulatory message.

The statement read:
“Congratulations to Akwa United FC defender Wisdom Ndon on his Super Eagles B call-up.”

Ndon earned this recognition for his excellent performances in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), and his inclusion highlights the growing presence of Akwa United players in the national team setup.

Eguavoen’s Squad for CHAN Qualifier

Coach Augustine Eguavoen announced a 35-man squad for the crucial two-legged qualifier against Ghana. Nigeria will host the first leg between 20th – 22nd December 2024, with the return leg to follow a week later. The winner will secure a place in the 8th edition of the CHAN tournament, which will be held across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from 1st – 28th February 2025.

The players will report to camp in Abuja on October 29 to begin preparations for the match. The squad features a blend of talented domestic league players, including forwards, defenders, midfielders, and goalkeepers from clubs across Nigeria.

This call-up serves as an opportunity for home-based players like Ndon to prove their worth at the international level.

The Super Eagles B squad will be determined to make amends after losing to Ghana on penalties in their last CHAN qualifier. With Eguavoen at the helm, the team aims to secure victory and book a spot at CHAN 2025.

This recognition of Ndon’s talent is a proud moment for Akwa Ibom football, with fans hoping he will make a strong impact in the national team’s campaign.
