Akwa Ibom State Grassroots League Week Five Review

ONNA ZONE.

Date: Thursday 31/ 3 /2022.

Venue: Onna Township stadium.

The 2022 Akwa Ibom Grassroots League enters week five. 3rd place Oxygen Fc lost its first match of the season in week four and will come up against a 4th placed Blessed stars team thirsty to convert it’s DDD form to W. Kickoff is 9am .

By 11am, top of the table Unity Fc will take on 2nd placed Krane Fc. On paper the biggest game of the day. Defending Champions Krane Fc will have to be at their best Vs a Unity Fc team who are yet to lose a game in the 2022 season.

5th place Scorpion Fc Will be up against 6th placed Barracks Fc by 1pm. Fresh from it’s first win of the season in week four, Barracks Fc will face a defensively disciplined Scorpion Fc side who have conceded just one goal this season.

Josima Fc did not show up for it’s week four encounter, a date vs Cheetah Fc beckons by 3pm in what will be an encounter between two teams without a win in the Onna Zone of the league.

UYO ZONE

Friday 1/4/2022.

Venue: University of Uyo Mini stadium

2nd placed Jimbo International Fc will face struggling Nichin Football Academy by 9am hoping to get more points to boost it’s hope of a super Eight spot.

Edak Fc take on high flying Eagle Eyes Academy by 11am knowing a defeat will take them off the top four spot. Against the top team in the zone , Edak Fc surely has a huge opposition in week Five.

1pm will see Pillars Investors and 3rd placed Fullife Football Academy lock horns. With four points from it’s last two games it’s obvious Pillars Investors have taken a huge leap from their 0-7 drubbing in the hand of Ikoya Fc in week two.

Ikoya Fc take on Struggling New Flame Academy by 3pm in the last game of the week. A defeat will further diminish New Flame Academy’s slim hopes of a top four finish. Ikoya on their part have lost shape since it’s record setting 7-0 win over Pillars Investors. Both teams need a win to boost their chances of qualification for the Super Eight.
