Akwa United Storm Omoku in search of points

Following their emphatic victory over Rangers International in Uyo on Matchday 1, Akwa United will travel to Omoku, Rivers State aiming to pick their second win of the season when they engage NPFL debutant Go Round FC on Matchday 2 at the Krisdera Stadium on Wednesday 17th January 2018.

The Promise Keepers produced a spectacular performance at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Sunday to beat Rangers 2-0 to get their season off to a flying start and Coach Abdu Maikabas team will be beaming with confidence going into their first away match of the season against Go Round FC who suffered a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Wikki Tourists on Matchday 1.

Coach Maikaba has selected 18 of his best players for the encounter, but its remain unclear whether he will keep faith with the team that started the season in Uyo on Sunday or whether he will give opportunity to some of his new players to taste league action in Omoku.

Akwa United picked one win and six draws away from home last season, but they are more than determined to improve on their away form in this season’s campaign. If the Promise Keepers avoid defeat in Omoku on Wednesday, they may remain among the top teams on the log.

Speaking with the media department of the club, Coach Maikaba said his team is fully ready.

“The season has started and we are happy with the way we played on Sunday. It was a very good match. That was just one out of 38 matches we have to play this season, so we will take it one match at a time. Our focus is now on our match against Go Round in Omoku”.

“They (Go Round) may be new in the NPFL, but they are a good side judging from all what we have heard about them”.

“The match will be their first home game, so it’s going to be tough. We are not just going to Omoku to play, we have a target going there, our target is to win every match and we will give our best in all our matches irrespective of where the match is played”.

The match will be Go Rounds first NPFL match at home after they gained promotion to the Top Flight last year.
