Akwa United’s Afeez Aremu has moved on from Rivers United poor treatment

Akwa United midfielder says he has moved on from the poor treatment he suffered while playing for Rivers United.

Afeez Aremu who played a major part last season in Rivers United securing a continental ticket for this season’s CAF Competition was released alongside other major players and the box to box player condemned the club’s action.

Aremu revealed that the club never appreciated his efforts and Akwa United is the total opposite of what Rivers United was during his time with the Port-Harcourt based club.

The box to box midfielder also talked about the rumours linking him to other clubs and his plans to repay the trust coach Maikaba and Akwa United fans have in him.

“I gave everything for Rivers United when I was with them last season but I found out that my efforts and that of players like Victor Alegbe, Ofem Inah, Chinonso Okonkwo were not appreciated we helped Rivers United win a spot in CAF competition

I appreciate the interest in me by some clubs but I am happy in Akwa United and I want to achieve something for the team before God will decide next step for me.

“Staying with Akwa United is my little way to give back to coach Maikaba and fans who appreciate my skills and techniques.
“Akwa United fans really showed me that I am making an impact on the team so I really appreciate them and I promise them that we are going to win the 2016-2017 League or be on the continent when what you do is been appreciated it boost your morale to do more.”
Rivers United are occupying the 18th position in the Nigeria Professional Football League 13 points behind league leaders MFM who had played three more games than United.

They have won their last three games including the 1st leg of their CAF Confederations Cup clash against Rayon Sport and everything seems to be back on track.
