Al Ahli Tripoli win first BAL title after beating Petro de Luanda

Al Ahli Tripoli of Libya won their first Basketball Africa League (BAL) title with a strong 88-67 victory over Petro de Luanda of Angola in Saturday’s final in Pretoria.

Although Petro de Luanda, the defending champions, tried to stay in the game at times, Al Ahli were in control from start to finish. They secured a well-deserved win in front of an excited crowd.

The victory means Al Ahli have booked their place in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Singapore. Their coach, Abou Chacra Fouad, was also honoured as Coach of the Year for his excellent leadership.
