Al Ahly and Porto Draw 4-4 but Both Teams Exit Club World Cup
Al Ahly and Porto played out a thrilling 4-4 draw in their final Group A match at the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite the excitement and goals, both teams are now out of the tournament.
Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali scored a hat-trick for Egyptian champions Al Ahly, and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane also got on the scoresheet. But each time Al Ahly took the lead, Porto fought back.
Porto’s goals came from teenagers Rodrigo Mora and William Gomes, as well as substitute Samu Aghehowa and veteran Pepe. Both teams focused on attacking play, knowing they needed goals to have any chance of staying in the competition.
However, the result between Inter Miami and Palmeiras made their efforts meaningless. That match ended 2-2, and with both teams finishing above Al Ahly and Porto in the group, they go through to the round of 16.
As a result, Al Ahly and Porto are heading home.
