Euro 2024Nigerian Footballers AbroadOff the Pitch

Alex Iwobi reveals why he has not actively followed the European championship

Nigerian international Alex Iwobi has opted to prioritize his passion for fashion over keeping up with the ongoing Euro 2024 football championship in Germany.

Enjoying a well-deserved holiday, Iwobi has chosen to distance himself from the football buzz surrounding the tournament.

“I’ve seen a few highlights, but I haven’t been actively keeping up,” the 27-year-old footballer admitted in an interview with GQ. “I’m just literally trying to take a break and enjoy [being] away from it all.”

While taking time off from football, Iwobi has delved deeper into the world of fashion, exploring a new passion. “It’s two different worlds, and I’m still learning,” he shared with GQ magazine. Despite the contrast, he credits his team for making the transition smooth and manageable.

Recently, Iwobi made waves at the prestigious Paris Fashion Week, showcasing his unique style and flair. Reflecting on his experience, he mentioned consulting friends to select the most ‘Parisian’ outfit, settling on a creation by Solid Homme.

In addition to his fashion pursuits, Iwobi joined his Fulham teammates, including Calvin Bassey, in unveiling the club’s stylish new home kit for the upcoming 2024/25 season. The kit features a classic white design with modern red wave side detailing, crafted from premium waffle base fabric.
