Golden State Warriors face game 7 pressure after blowing 3-1 lead
The Golden State Warriors are at risk of repeating a painful moment in their history. Back in 2016, they became the first NBA team to lose the Finals after leading 3-1. Now, they’ve let a similar lead slip in their first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets.
After going 3-1 up, the Warriors have now lost two games in a row. The series is tied 3-3, and it all comes down to a winner-takes-all Game 7 in Houston on Sunday.
Curry Fighting Through Injury
In Game 6, Steph Curry scored 29 points, shooting 9 of 23 from the field and 6 of 16 from three-point range. The Warriors will be hoping their star guard can deliver again on Sunday, despite carrying a thumb injury.
Curry has been struggling with a painful right thumb for the past three weeks. Even though he’s playing with a splint, he’s expected to suit up for Game 7. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Curry has been pushing through the discomfort quietly.
“He’s told people it hurts, but he’s just getting on with it,” Charania said.
So far in the series, Curry is averaging 24.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, with a shooting accuracy of 46.7% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc.
All Eyes on Game 7
With the Warriors’ season hanging in the balance, fans are looking to Curry to lead the charge one more time. Game 7 tips off at 8:30 p.m. EST on Sunday in Houston.
