Allardyce- I don’t want COVID, give us a break.

West Bromwich Albion manager, Sam Allardyce on Tuesday stated his objection to the season going on normally with the increasing number of COVID-19 cases seen in the UK on a daily basis. The West Brom boss said he is 66 years old, and the last thing he wants is to contract the dreaded COVID-19.

Allardyce replaced the sacked Slaven Bilic as West Brom manager, and he has called on the FA, the governing body of English football, and the UK government to halt the professional football activities in the country for a bit, to allow a bit of normalcy to be restored, and to prevent players and coaches from contracting the virus within their bubbles.

In the last round of testing prior to Matchday 16, 18 players and officials were said to have tested positive for the virus, the highest ever total positive cases since testing began. Also, London has been moved to Tier 4, and fans have been barred from being present in the stadiums during matches. Liverpool and Everton are the only teams currently allowed to let fans into their stadiums for games. The matchday 16 clash between Manchester City and Everton was postponed after about 5 players and members of staff of Manchester City tested positive for the virus.

A new strain of the coronavirus has ravaged parts of the UK in recent weeks, and cases are at an all-time high.
