Alvarez warns Khan he is at ´different level´

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has warned Amir Khan he is at a “different level” to when Floyd Mayweather Jr beat him as he prepares to face the Brit in May.

Khan raised eyebrows when he opted to step up two weight divisions to take on Mexican Alvarez for the WBC middleweight belt in Las Vegas.

Alvarez will be expected to retain his belt at the T-Mobile Arena, but Khan said on Monday it his “time to shine” and plans to use his “movement, speed and ring generalship” to claim a surprise victory.

Mayweather is the only fighter to have beaten Alvarez in his 48 fights and the 25-year-old said Khan cannot rely on attempting the same tactics which worked for the legendary American in 2003.

“He might try to do that but I’m ready for it now,” said Alvarez.

“I’m a fighter at a different level now, have faced pretty much every style, so I’m capable of fighting against someone who can utilise that style.

“I didn’t have too many amateur fights. I made my debut as a professional at 15, so it’s prepared me very, very well, I’ve had many tests, throughout my career.

“But thank God, I’ve passed those and that’s what’s got me to where I’m at now.”
