Andy Murray Seen Coaching Novak Djokovic at the Miami Open
Tennis legend Andy Murray has had a different role at this year’s Miami Open, coaching Novak Djokovic instead of playing himself.
Earlier this month, Djokovic matched Murray’s record of 16 appearances at Indian Wells but was surprisingly beaten in his first match by Botic van de Zandschulp.
However, things improved for Djokovic at the 2025 Miami Open. With Murray in his corner, the 24-time Grand Slam champion won his opening match.
Djokovic received a bye in the first round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament. In the second round, he beat Rinky Hijikata 6-0, 7-6 (7-1).
While fans are watching the players closely, the courts at Miami have also caught a lot of attention, just like they did at Indian Wells.
Murray and Brad Gilbert Talk About the Court Surfaces
American player Ben Shelton recently said the Indian Wells courts felt “bouncy”, and Djokovic agreed with him.
Now Murray has shared his thoughts too. He joined a discussion on X (formerly Twitter) with his former coach Brad Gilbert, who now coaches Coco Gauff.
They talked about the court surfaces at both Indian Wells and the Miami Open. Indian Wells recently changed its courts from Plexipave to Laykold, which is the same surface used at the Miami Open and the US Open.
