Antonio Conte hails Lukaku as potential Victor Osimhen replacement
Napoli manager Antonio Conte is gearing up for the new season, preparing for the likely departure of star forward Victor Osimhen.
Conte’s recent comments suggest that Osimhen may have an agreement with the club, fueling speculation about the Nigerian’s summer exit.
Also, per media outlets in Italy, Conte is looking for a new striker and is not planning to have Osimhen in his squad.
As Conte readies himself for the upcoming season, he has already been linked with several potential replacements for Osimhen.
One prominent name is Romelu Lukaku, who spent the 2023–24 season on loan at AS Roma. Lukaku, who previously won the Scudetto with Conte at Inter Milan, could be a cost-effective replacement for Osimhen.
Chelsea is reportedly willing to sell Lukaku for £38 million this summer, according to The Standard.
Conte expressed his admiration for Lukaku, saying, “He’s an excellent player, top player. There’s nothing else to say.
” You always hope to have a player like Romelu on your side and not against you,” as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. Despite interest from AC Milan, Conte is keen on reuniting with the ex-Manchester United striker at Napoli.
