Antonio Conte reveals injury to Victor Moses and Crystal Palace loss forced Kurt Zouma selection
Antonio Conte has hinted he picked Kurt Zouma because the selection he made for the Crystal Palace game in the absence of Victor Moses did not work.
Zouma makes his first Premier League start this season for Chelsea in a massive game against Manchester City as the Blues look to bounce back from a rare defeat to Palace.
Moses played no part in the Palace defeat and Cesar Azpilicueta moves in his position with Zouma alongside Gary Cahill and David Luiz in the back three.
‘I think I decided for this starting eleven because there is still the miss of Moses and we finished the game with some problems for some players,’ Conte said.
Zouma’s season has been disrupted by serious injury keeping him on the sidelines at the start of the season while the form of Chelsea’s back three kept him out of action when he was fit.
City will be looking to add another seed of doubt to Chelsea’s title credentials by beating the league leaders at Stamford Bridge.
But Chelsea will be confident that in front of their home fans they can go ten points clear at the top of the table.
