Apart from the offside goal, Arsenal played Champions League football, says Rennes manager Julien Stephan

Rennes coach Julien Stephan was magnanimous in defeat after watching his side go down 3-0 to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Thursday.

Rennes crashed out of the Europa League after losing 3-0 to Arsenal in the second leg despite securing a 3-1 home win last Thursday.

Julien Stephan lamented Arsenal’s second goal as he felt the goal should have been ruled out for offside and that the goal gave the home team the upper hand.

He however, commended Unai Emery side because they played at a level higher than Europa League on Thursday.

“The level that was being played against us was Champions League football.”
