Arsenal are ready to activate the €60 million release clause of Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, SportsRation reports.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have reached an agreement to sign the 26-year-old from Real Sociedad.
Romano revealed that Zubimendi has agreed to join Mikel Arteta’s side and will become Arsenal’s first signing of the summer.
“Arsenal agree deal to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, here we go!” Romano posted on Saturday.
“Zubimendi has given his word to sign a long-term deal… now Arsenal just need to take the final steps to trigger the €60m clause.”
Zubimendi is expected to strengthen the Gunners’ midfield as they look to improve after missing out on both the Premier League and Champions League this season.
Arsenal are currently fighting to secure second place in the league with just a few games left to play.
