Manchester United, Spurs also through

Arsenal qualified for the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League after surviving a scare from Portuguese side, Benfica in the second leg to win the game 3-2 and win 4-3 on aggregate.

Arsenal took the lead through captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang before Pedro Goncalves scored a stunning freekick to equalise for the Portuguese side in the first half. Rafa Silva scored for Benfica to make it 2-1 before Scottish left back, Kieran Tierney rifled home an equaliser for the Gunners. A late Aubameyang strike secured the win for Arsenal, and their passage into the Round of 16.

Manchester United were held to a goalless draw at Old Trafford by Spanish side, Real Sociedad. Manchester United won the first leg 4-0 away from home and thought they had gone in front through defender Axel Tuanzebe in the first half, but his effort was disallowed by the VAR. Real Sociedad also had an opportunity to pick up the win from the penalty spot but Mikel Oyarzabal blazed the ball over the goal from 12 yards out. Manchester United go through to the Round of 16 after a 4-0 aggregate victory.

Leicester City were knocked out of the tournament after they got stunned by Czech side Slavia Prague 2-0 at the King Power Stadium through second half goals from Lukas Provod and Abdallah Sima.

On Wednesday, Tottenham Hotspur overcame AC Wolfsberger 4-0 thanks to a brace from their Brazilian striker, Carlos Vinicius, a stunning first time strike from Gareth Bale, and the pick of the bunch, a brilliant overhead kick from Dele Alli. All three English teams will be in Monday’s Round of 16 draw for the Europa League.
