Arsenal to give ‘key player’ Alex Iwobi new contract

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi has reportedly edged closer to signing a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Arsenal and has made 98 senior appearances for the Gunners in all competitions.

Recent reports from Italy had claimed that new manager Unai Emery was preparing to make Iwobi available for transfer amid interest from Serie A giants Lazio and AC Milan.

According to The Mirror, however, Iwobi is very much in the Spaniard’s plans and is being offered a new deal by the Arsenal hierarchy which runs until 2022.

Iwobi’s current contract, signed in 2015, expires in two years’ time.
