Arsenal’s silence on Esha Gupta’s racist remark on Alex Iwobi calls for concern

There is no statement, no apology from Arsenal Football club after one of the club’s ambassadors made a very disgusting remark on one of the club’s player.

Super Eagles attacker, Alex Iwobi became the latest victim of racism following a remark from Esha Gupta who is popular for dating Hector Bellerin than her supposed job of acting.

Esha Gupta who currently serves as one of Arsenal’s ambassadors shared a screenshot of a chat where she and her friend made a racist remark on Alex Iwobi.

The 33-year-old Indian who was left frustrated after Arsenal’s 3-1 home loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup shared a shot of a WhatsApp chat with her friend where she called Alex Iwobi a gorilla.

Here is the shot

Although she has taken to her Twitter account to apologise but the tone of the letter showed she was only interested in appeasing the angry fans and keeping her job with the club.

She showed no sign of remorse and also failed to apologise to Alex Iwobi.

In this period when clubs and concerned organisations are taking every measure to curb and kick racism out of football, Arsenal’s lack of action on this matter calls for serious concern.

It has been days since the incident happened and Arsenal need to stand up for one of their very own who has been shamed by a ‘face selling’ somebody.

Racism has no place in sports, nobody should be condemned because of the colour of his/her skin.

Together we need to kick racism out of football.
