Arteta on Tomiyasu and Ramsdale after Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Leicester

Said he thought Maddison strike was going in

Arsenal manager is full of praise for two of his players after their impressive 2-0 win at Leicester City in Premier League game on Saturday.

The Gunners were outside favourite to win the clash as many book makers tipped Leicester City to claim all three points.

But two first half goals in the 5th and 18th minutes from Gabriel and Emile Smith-Rowe secured the maximum points for Arsenal.

Leicester pushed for an equaliser but failed to even score a goal let alone getting two to draw parity.

And Mikel Arteta lauded his goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and Japanese full back Tomiyasu for their roles in the win and a clean sheet.

“I’m delighted to have him,” Arteta on Tomiyasu at his post match conference.

“As a person he’s such a great character. He is doing all the right things.

“Top professional. He is giving us a lot of composure in the backline. His adaption and the way he’s done it, he deserves a lot of credit.”

Arteta on Ramsdale:”I think he has settled in a group that is very welcoming, with a lot of young energy and very humble senior players that accommodate you straight away.”

Arteta on Ramsdale’s save from Maddison:”I have just seen the picture, I haven’t seen the video footage yet. When I saw the ball leaving Maddison’s foot, I said ‘goal’.”
