Aruna Quadri avenges Omotayo Olajide loss, beats Omar Assar to book #ITTFAfricaCup final spot
Aruna Quadri came from two game down to beat Omar Assar in a keenly contested tie at the sports Hall of Rades in Tunis on Tuesday to book a spot in the 2020 ITTF Africa Cup final.
Aruna Quadri who was facing his rival for the 16th time lost the first two games by 5-11, 6-11 before winning the next two games 11-4 and 14-12 for a 2-2 tie.
Omar Assar who has a superior head to head record with 9 wins was on the verge of making it the 10th after taking the 5th game by 11-7.
But Aruna Quadri dug deep into his trick bag to secure a 11-6 and 12-10 win for his 7th win against Omar Assar which confirm his place in the final.
For the win Aruna Quadri also avenged the 4-0 loss that Omotayo Olajide suffered at the hands of Omar Assar in the quarterfinal.
Aruna Quadri will now play the winners of the second semifinals between Ibrahima Diaw and Ahmed Saleh.
