Nigerian table tennis sensation Aruna Quadri finally fell to a defeat at the WTT Star Contender tournament in Doha, Qatar, as South Korean star Lim Jong Hoon claimed a 4-2 win in the semifinal of the competition.
Quadri became the first African player to reach the semifinals of the WTT Star Contender tournament after successive wins against three Chinese opponents in the preceding rounds. The experienced player, however, could not battle past the world number 47 in the semifinal of the tournament for the second time in quick succession. Lim Jong Hoon defeated him at the same venue only days earlier.
Aruna Quadri has now gained 210 ranking points for reaching the semifinals of the competition, putting him in a great position to break into the top ten of the men’s ITTF ranking this year.
