Atletico Madrid Get First Win in Club World Cup With Victory Over Seattle Sounders
Atletico Madrid won their first match in the Club World Cup with a 3-1 victory over Seattle Sounders. The Spanish team are now third in Group B with three points.
After losing 4-0 to PSG in their last match, Atletico made a strong comeback. Diego Simeone’s team took the lead early when Pablo Barrios scored in the 11th minute. His shot hit the underside of the crossbar and went in.
Belgian player Axel Witsel came on at half-time and quickly made it 2-0, heading the ball in after Marcos Llorente’s shot was pushed onto the post.
Seattle’s Albert Rusnak scored soon after to make it 2-1, but Barrios added another goal to make the final score 3-1.
