Atletico Madrid snap up Nigerian wonderkid Samu Omorodion
Atletico Madrid have swiftly completed the signing of Spanish-Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion Aghehowa from fellow La Liga side Granada, triggering his release clause.
Teenage striker Omorodion, who shone for Granada in his La Liga debut against Atletico Madrid last weekend and scored his first professional goal, has now penned a five-year deal with Los Rojiblancos.
Atletico Madrid paid €6m to sign the 19-year-old until 2028, and there is a possibility of the teenager going out on loan to gain experience. The Spanish giants moved quickly to snap him up even before he made his second professional appearance for Granada, his boyhood club.
The striker, born in Spain to Nigerian parents, is eligible to represent the Super Eagles and has played for his country of birth up to U-19 level. He will be hopeful of leaving an impression on manager Diego Simeone to keep him at the club and allow him fight for a starting berth.
