Gabonese star, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has set a new record for most-goals in the UEFA Europa League, surpassing Radamel Falcao to become the all-time leading scorer in the competition.

The former, Arsenal man hit the new record with his goal in Olympique de Marseille’s 3-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

After he equalled Radamel Falcao’s record in the first leg which ended 3-3, the striker broke the record with his 31st goal in the competition to cancel out Georgiy Sudakov’s early opener and get the Ligue 1 side back on level terms in the tie.

That goal took Aubameyang to an unprecedented 31 goals in the Europa League, surpassing the previous record set by Radamel Falcao.

Aubameyang’s journey to the summit of the Europa League’s scoring charts is a testament to his goalscoring prowess from his early days at Lille OSC to his illustrious career at clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and now Marseille.

While Aubameyang has secured the Europa League record, he stands on the verge of another milestone, poised to surpass Henrik Larsson’s UEFA Cup record of 31 goals.

With Marseille progressing to the next round of this seasons UEFA Europa League, Aubameyang has an opportunity to further solidify his legacy by surpassing Larsson’s record and setting a new record.

He leads the UEFA Europa League scoring charts with seven goals, a tally that outshines the total from last season’s top-scorers, Victor Boniface and Marcus Rasford.
