Awoniyi glad to sign new Liverpool deal, believes his Anfield dreams will come true

Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi is glad he signed an improved Liverpool deal.

Having rejected interest from top clubs the former U-17 champions signed a long term deal with the club he hoped to one day play for regularly.

The 20-year-old striker, who joined the Reds in August 2015, put pen to paper on a five-year deal with improved wages at Melwood on Tuesday.

“I feel excited and I feel very happy,” Awoniyi told the club’s official website.

“It has been three years since I first came to Liverpool. So far, so good. The last year was the best for me, it has been an amazing year so far.

“I just have to keep working hard each year and I believe one day the dream will come true.

“Thanks to my family, who have been so supportive. I’m very glad and excited about this contract and hopefully to have an even better year.”

Awoniyi originally moved to Anfield from the Imperial Soccer Academy here in Nigeria.

The 2013 U17 World Cup winner spent last season in Belgium’s top flight with Royal Excel Mouscron where he scored 10 goals and provided four assists.
