Awoniyi joins Simon, Kalu & Esiti in Gent

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Belgian First Division A club KAA Gent on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

Awoniyi, 20, who recently signed a contract extension with Liverpool will continue his development in Belgium after joining Gent on loan for the 2018-19 season.

Taiwo Awoniyi has returned to a familiar league having spent the 2017-18 season on loan at another Belgian First Division A side Excelsior Mouscron where he scored 10 goals and assisted 7 goals in 31 matches he played for them last season.

Awoniyi who now becomes the fourth Nigerian player in the Buffalos first team alongside the trio of Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon and Anderson Esiti will be hoping he scores for his new side having scored and provided an assist when he played against them with Mouscron last season.

Since joining Liverpool, Taiwo Awoniyi has had loan spells at FSV Frankfurt in 2015-16, NEC in the 2016-17 season and Royal Excel Mouscron in the 2017-18 season.
