Stanley Eguma: We failed ourselves against Shooting Stars

Following his side’s 2-1 defeat at the Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba in the hands of Shooting Stars, Rivers United coach has said his side gifted the game to their hosts with their many mistakes.

Sunday Faleye and Jide Apena goals either half rendered Rivers United Lukman Mohammed’s effort in the first period inconsequential to hand the hosts a well-deserved win but Stanley Eguma is adamant the result would have been different had his side not made many mistakes.

“The big lesson that we will take from this game was that we didn’t start well plus some blunders we committed in the second half after getting back into the game with the equalizer (didn’t help our cause).

“Going five matches unbeaten does not make you invincible and that is something we have to learn,” he said.

The defeat sees United drop from fifth to eighth on the NPFL log while 3SC rise from 19th to 12th.
