Badminton Federation unveils Mascot for African Championship

The official mascot for the African Senior Badminton Championship bilked for April 22-28 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was unveiled today in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Mascot named ‘Alabo’ was designed by Brisby Christopher Egbonyi, a graduate from University of Port Harcourt.
At a ceremony in Port Harcourt, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development Olusade Adesola praised the leadership of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria led by Francis Orbih, expressing satisfaction with the unveiling of the Mascot.

He assured the Federation of the Ministry’s support to compliment the efforts of Rivers State Government to ensure that the Championships is hitch free and successful .

The Permanent Secretary also applauded the Badminton Federation for empowering youths through the Mascot Challenge which earned the winner One hundred thousand naira.

Meanwhile, the BFN has announced 18 players who will represent the country at the Championship. The team is made up of 9 male and 9 female players as well as 3 Senior national coaches
