Barau FC Arrives in Asaba, Aiming for NPFL Promotion
Barau Football Club from Kano State have arrived in Asaba, Delta State, for the 2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) Super Eight playoffs.
The team, also known as the Maliya Boys, landed in Asaba on Wednesday, full of hope that they can win promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/26 season.
According to the club’s Media Officer, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, Barau FC travelled with 32 players and over 15 officials, including the coaching team.
Barau FC says they are fully focused and ready to give their best in the competition to reach the NPFL.
The NNL has announced that the Super Eight tournament will be held at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, from 5th to 12th July, 2025.
Eight teams will take part in the tournament: Warri Wolves, Osun United, Crown FC, Kun Khalifa FC (Owerri), Wikki Tourists (Bauchi), Yobe Desert Stars, Doma United (Gombe), and Barau FC (Kano).
The tournament will decide which four teams move up to the NPFL and also crown the overall winner of the 2024/25 NNL season.
