Barcelona have reportedly told French winger Ousmane Dembele to find a new club before the end of January transfer window.
There have been back and forth exchange of strong words between Ousmane Dembele camp and Barcelona over contract renewal.
Ousmane Dembele is reportedly open to renewing his contract at Barcelona if his terms and conditions are met, but Barcelona are not willing to meet his terms.
In fact, the Catalan giants are proposing wage reduction which Ousmane Dembele and his agent are not ready to entertain.
His agent reacted strongly to reported threats of forcing Dembele out or allowing him to sit in the stand for the remainder of his contract without playing football.
“Barçelona are losing Dembélé on their own,” says Moussa Sissoko
“They cannot use the threat that Dembélé will spend six months without playing if he does not renew now”, he told RMC.
“It’s a kind of pressure that doesn’t work against people like us and me”.
Yesterday, Barcelona coach Xavi, during his press conference announced that they want him to stay but need him to sign the contract or else he will be shown the exit door.
“The message is clear. Ousmane Dembélé has to sign a new contract or we find a way to sell him in January. No other way.
“I don’t consider sending him to stands. He says he wants to stay but then he doesn’t sign.
“I also wonder about agent is talking the way he is and Dembélé, on the other hand, telling me he wants to stay. I can’t understand.
“We can’t wait for Ousmane. Or renews the contract or a solution to sell him must be found immediately”.
Today, after he was dropped out of the squad that will play against Athletic Club, Barcelona director Mateu Alemany Font said he needs to leave the club this January.
“It’s clear that Dembélé does NOT want to continue with Barcelona. He doesn’t want to be part of our project.
“We told Dembélé he has to leave immediately. We expect Ousmane to be sold before Jan 31”.
On 25 August 2017, Barcelona signed Dembélé for €105 million plus a reported €40 million add-ons.
