Barkley sends message to Lampard after another top display against a top 6 team

Ross Barkley has been in top for since he joined Aston Villa on loan from Chelsea.

The English midfielder was one of the top performers today as Aston Villa secured a comfortable 3-0 win against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in a Premier League game.

An own goal from Bukayo Saka and a double Ollie Watkins goals sealed the win for Aston Villa but Ross Barkley was instrumental to Deam Smith’s side’s success.

Ross Barkley was simply unplayable as he ticked all the boxes to help Aston Villa secure the big win. He created the most chances (6) in the game and assisted one of Ollie Watkins goals.

He now joins the list of players with the most chances created in a single Premier League game this season (all six):

◉ Hakim Ziyech (H) vs Sheff Utd
◎ Ross Barkley (A) vs Arsenal
◎ Reece James (A) vs West Brom
◎ Bruno Fernandes (A) vs Newcastle
◎ Kevin De Bruyne (A) vs Wolves

So far this season, Ross Barkley has impressed as Aston Villa fights for a top four finish. He was great for The Villa in their 7-2 win against Liverpool and 1-0 win at Leicester City.

With two years left on his contract at the end of this season, Chelsea could cash in on him but, if he continues with this form he could force his way into Lampard’s plans in the coming seasons.
